August Papertrey Blog Hop!

We were challenged to create from an inspiration photo for this month's PTI Blog Hop.  The cute little scene made me think of a picnic lunch.  I'm sure many fellow stamper's grabbed their Vintage Picnic set and went to town.  My version has a stamped background, to mimic the inside of the suitcase. (I used Iconic Images) The basket was die cut and colored with copics.  The flowers were stamped on a piece of Rustic White, and the edges of the panel were sponged with Mellow Moss before I removed it from the die.  A larger version was cut out using a Mellow Moss print.  The ribbon was thread through and tied with a Poppy button and white embroidery floss.    Here is the photo that inspired us all...

Enjoy all the fabulous creations for the Hop!  Thanks for taking a peek at mine...

MIM Challenge ~ Out of the Lines...??

What??  Color outside the lines?  That's what this week's Make it Monday was all about from Papertrey Ink.  Well, this was a major challenge for me!  Even when I was a little girl, coloring was all about staying inside the lines...LOL.  I decided to pull out Flower Fusion #6, and make a bunch of flowers.   I did color outside them if you look real close, but not too much! :-)  This also used a piece of Basic Grey's Indie Bloom collection and was the inspiration for my colors.  Card base and ribbon are Berry Sorbet, and the flowers are on a piece of textured white cardstock for a change.  TFL!

VLV Sketch for August

Charmaine gave us a wonderful sketch to work with for this week's Viva la Verve.  This is my second card using it!  I thought it worked perfectly on this little boy card, using Papertrey Ink's Out of this World set.  The stars are from My Favorite Things and are dusted with SU Dazzling Diamonds.  The rocket is colored with copics, highlighted with a Spica clear glitter pen and a drop of Crystal Effects for the window.

MIM Birthday Glitter

What a fun and easy technique for this week's Make it Monday! You can find the tutorial here: It was fun to make my background with the awesome sunflower stamp set.  I used Mat Stack 1 for my die, and punched a circle for the sentiment and popped it up with some SU dimensionals.  The colors are Ocean Tides and Blush, with Fresh Snow, Ocean Tides, and Versamark inks.  Can't wait to try this out again!

Masculine Get Well

Have you ever noticed, that it's easy to make Femine Birthday, Thinking of You, and Get Well cards?  Well I decided to make this card into a Masculine Get Well card.  Using my new Iconic Images set from Papertrey Ink, I chose black and sahara sand to make it feel more like a guy card. The bird and branch are embossed with black embossing powder.  Then I cut and framed it with the Mat Stack 1 die and stamp.  The papers are older prints from Stampin Up. I've used the die from Half & Half, accented with three black eyelets. The little leaves around the edge of the bird are stamped in Versamark and are also from Mat Stack 1.

Warm Thank You

I could hardly wait to come home from work and stamp today! I wish I could have half days, every day...!   **sigh**  I pulled out this little set from PTI called Flower Fusion 6, and used Shannon's cool sketch for this week's Viva la Verve challenge.  I used some distress inks on the white doily to soften the look, as my flower and sentiment are on Barely Banana cardstock.  I love these sweet little dies from Verve, perfect for a small sentiment.

MIM Tulips & Ribbon

I had a friend over last night to play with Copic markers.  I used Friendship Jar Spring Fillers to make these tulips in yellow and peach. The only down side of tulips, are that the season is so short...  Today, I added some ribbon, using white Pottery Barn packaging grosgrain (love to recycle), using the copic coloring technique that was taught on this week's Make it Monday for PTI.   I added a button from Vintage Spring Mix and little twine accent.  The main image is backed with Lemon Tart, and it's on a New Leaf card base.  I will use this technique again, to custom color ribbon ~ very easy!  TFL!

Timeout Chair

I managed to make one card over the weekend, even though my step-daughter flew in from Los Angeles for a visit.  It was wonderful, as we hadn't seen her for a year and and half!  We had a blast visiting the Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland, and Woodford Reserve. It was sad to say goodbye, as she lives so far away! Hopefully the next time we are together won't be another year and a half....

My card today used this week's Viva la Verve sketch, a Dare to Get Dirty challenge, and this darling image by Mo Manning.  She is colored with copics, and her shirt is paper pieced.  The papers are from Lily Bee Picket Fence.  Have a great Monday everyone!

MOJO Hole in One!

If you haven't noticed, husband loves to golf... He was out Tuesday night with his golfing buddy, and his buddy had a hole in one! He's a great friend, so I wanted to send him a card of congrats from us. I used this weeks MOJO Monday sketch, as well as a couple of Dare to get Dirty challenges.

I started with a Stamping Up stamp called On the Green.  I used markers to color the words "Hole in One" in black, and then the rest in Always Artichoke.  I added a background layer, and then paper pierced around the edges.  Then I used some Basic Gray Manilla paper as a base for the little triangles.  I thought they looked a little like flag sticks!  I stitched around the edge of that paper, to make it look like a little frame, using some green thread.  Then I added a couple of eyelets, something I hadn't pulled out in a while, and I need to use more!  For the bottom embossed layer, I found some old cardstock, that was a little darker than Kraft, and used some Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink to highlight and roughed up the edges a little.  I also made a envelope with Chevron Stripes, a new PTI set.

By the way, my husband has had 2 Hole in Ones, and I've had one too!
