Peonies in a Pocket

Had to do another Make it Monday card.  I'm really enjoying these pocket cards!  This one is going to my niece.  Just a note of encouragement, as she just suffered a miscarriage.  I love the new Sweet Blush ink!!  It is just awesome!!

I love the new dies too.  I used them for the card inside, having them over the edge a little bit.  Okay, so always look to see what white you are stamping on.  I had my insert all finished, and realized the the back of the white was a label from some card stock... :-(   lol...!  Good thing the dies made it really quick for a "do-over"....

Washi Tape!!

I made my first card with some Washi Tape I picked up at Target.  I thought the pocket cards for Make it Monday, was the perfect time to try it out.

Just a little strip up each side!  Easy Peasy!  I used Turning a New Leaf and Flower Fusion #12 to make my pocket.  I love the sentiments from this Flower Fusion.  The inside has the "try one more time sentiment.  Such encouraging words!!

Friendship Jar Sympathy

My dear Aunt passed away on Saturday afternoon, so I have a few Sympathy cards to make.  This first one uses the Friendship Jar Summer Fillers, which I've been borrowing from my stamping buddy, PJ.  I love the Hydrangea's, they are so perfect for watercoloring!

The card base is an older color from Stampin Up, called Almost Amethyst.  The border dies were cut from one of their soft blues, I think it's Ballet Blue??  I placed them on a base from Basic Grey's Basic White pack.  The sentiment is from Little Labels.  TFL!

Make it Monday Pocket Card

I've had a day full of stamping today!  It was really great to not have to get up and go to work.  When my husband left for his tee time, I hit my crafting table and stamped away....!

Today, Heather Nichols showed us how to make a pocket card.  I know I want to make one with stamping like hers, but this one uses some PTI papers that are perfect for boy cards.  I always like to keep a few children's birthday cards on hand and I think the interaction of a pocket card would work well for that.  The card base is Enchanted Evening, and the inside is Spring Rain.

I used the 2012 Birthday Tag with the Limitless Oval dies.  The edges were stitched together, so I used a second piece of the anchor paper on the backside.  Here is the insert pulled out...

I'll have more cards to share later, as I said, it's been a great stamping day!

PTI May Blog Hop!

Hooray!  It's PTI Blog Hop Time!  I loved this month's inspiration photo!!  These colors are so trendy right now and I was eager to work with them.  Here is the photo:

Isn't it gorgeous?  I went for a pretty literal look for my card, trying to used texture and color for each layer.  I used Betsy's MIM tutorial to help me pick my patterns.  The center of the cut felt flower is a bunch of French Knots.

Here's a close up of the knots... :)

Thanks for stopping by ~ have fun hopping...!

For Marjorie

A sweet friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and will start her treatments on Friday.  I wanted to send her a little encouragement her way so this card is going out tomorrow.  I know that she shares a great faith in the Lord, and will be seeking Him through the road ahead.

To make my card, I used this week's Make it Monday challenge.  I proud to say my three different patterns came from three different collections!  I usually take the easy way out, so this was a good stretch for me! :)  I've used May's Sketch for you to Try as my layout...

Card Base is Rustic White, Ribbon and Ink are New Leaf.  I've added three Kraft buttons on the lower stripe, they're a little hard to see on the prints.  The scripture verse is from Verve.

Trendy Tree Thanks!

Being a former quilter, I've always loved mixing prints for card making.  Betsy's great tutorial for this weeks Make it Monday just confirmed all I had learned from quilting.  For this card, I went with the monochromatic look, using three different prints from an old Stamping Up prints pack.  As Betsy said, it helps make it easy!

The largest pattern is on the bottom, with the subtle pattern in the middle.  I used three different shades of green on the trees to keep it interesting.  The tree trunks were embossed with a herringbone pattern for interest.  I used one of the patterns for the inside of my envelope.

My travels....!

I'm back from my trip to Europe, and I'd like to share a couple of photos of my favorite places.  There was SO much, and I loved every minute of it.  For those of you that didn't know, I met my husband in London last week, and after a couple of days, went on to Paris, and then to visit friends in Amboise.  It was fantastic.  There were many highlights, so these are just a few photos of my favorites...

This is the London Eye.  The building to the right is where our hotel was.  Very convenient!

Just stopping by to say hello to the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Walking to the hotel in Paris - my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower!

Le Chateau de Chenonceaux - my favorite!

A special tasting of Vouvray Wines with our friends Fausto and Simona, near Amboise.

Well thanks for letting me share a little of our vacation. I am SO blessed to have had an opportunity to see another part of our world.  It was an awesome week!

MIM 65 Blessings

I'm on a roll now that Dawn has inspired us all to use up our scraps for backgrounds!  This one uses Basic Grey's "Out of Print" 6x6 paper pack.

I used a Rustic White card base, with a layer of Sweet Blush too.  The sentiment is from Signature Greetings, and was cut out with the Limitless Oval dies.  The Smokey Shadow ribbon was secured with a brad that matches the papers.  Thanks for stopping by!

MIM 65 - Paper Scrap Backgrounds

I was able to put together a Make it Monday card after work today, making backgrounds with paper scraps.  I had my choice of MANY scraps.... ;-)   I pulled these out, because I had the focal piece already stamped with colors that matched the papers.  After assembling the background, I used another scrap to put the flower image on.  Then I used my sewing machine to stitch an edge that made it look like it was embroidered on.  I used the Berry Sorbet ribbon to bring a little color to the left side, and then added my sentiment from Little Labels, using some foam squares.  A Simply Chartreuse button, and I was finished.

I've got to do this more, and get myself out of my self imposed paper jungle!    Thanks for a fantastic tutorial Dawn....Happy Stamping all....!

MIM #64 Pop of Color

I may need to try every color combination that Nicole gave us to inspire our creations this week!  This is my third card, this time using these beauties:

I pulled out Sending You to create.  I would never put these together on my own, so it was fun to try to make it work.  I love when Nicole makes backgrounds out of flower stamps, so I tried my hand at that.  I did some layering of dies to create my focal point, trying to incorporate the "rule of three".  It all made for a pop of color on this card!

Okay, so there isn't any Smokey Shadow, but I thought the deep purple was so pretty I just used that. There really is Pure Poppy on this card, it just is showing up as dark pink....I think it's my new camera, and I'm still figuring it out...  How fun has this Make it Monday been????  I've loved it!

MIM Butterfly Anniversary

Tried my hand at another color inspired challenge last night.  For this card, I chose this photo:

And here is my Butterfly Anniversary card:

I started with a Rustic White card base, and added my swirls with Simply Chartreuse.  I used Ashley's technique of getting second stamp with a softer color towards the center.  The flowers are from Lace Bouquet!  I did second stamps with those too.  I wanted to mimic the placement of the flowers in the shirt.  The Butterfly uses both Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores.  There are three layers, one onto the card base, then two die cuts.  One stamped in Aqua Mist and one in Hawaiian Shores.  I decided to "edge" the card with the Hawaiian Shores ink cube, relating to the banding on the shirt.    This was fun to make ~ I think my MOJO may be coming back...!

Happy Stamping!

Make it Monday - Color Inspiration

This week's Make it Monday challenged us to use a photo's colors to use for inspiration.  I love to do this, and my Pinterest board is full of things I'd like to try!  We were given options to choose from, and this was mine.

I loved the texture and warmth of this photo, and tried to capture them!

I used a new, fabulous tool from Creative Memories (a birthday gift from my brother and sister-in-law!)
It's a large metal edge, that you use to tear your paper instead of die cutting.  I love the wonderful texture it added!  Each layer was stamped with a different background, even the rustic white that I used instead of Fine Linen, cause I don't have that yet.... :-)    I've got another card with a new colors in the works, hopefully I'll get it finished this evening.

Gettin my MOJO back...

Today I wanted to work on getting my MOJO back.  For some reason, I haven't done anything in my craft room since last week.  After some great advice from my blogging buddies, I decided to just start....

First I did a makeover of a card I'd made when I first got Mendhi Medallion.  It just wasn't cutting it.  I started with a Smokey Shadow base, and clear embossed some medallions.  Loved that look.  Then I added a Hawaiian Shores half & half die cut.  I placed the medallion from the first card on top of that.  I like the finished project a lot better.

A little bow and a rhinestone finished it off.

Next, I knew I needed to get a birthday card made for my grandson, who is turning 5 on Mother's Day.  I want to ship off his package soon so it arrives before he goes on vacation with his family.  I made another spinner card using some fun Bo Bunny papers.  This little rocket is so fun to make ~ perfect for a boy.

Well, now I'm off to listen to Nicole's make it Monday video, hoping for some more creative dust to fly my way....  :-)
