MIM #80 Twinkle

So I had to give this garland thing another try this morning  (even though I should be working on other things....!)  I really wanted to give Ashley's technique a try, and it worked really well!  I came across this older sentiment, and decided to use it with some star die cuts.  After cutting them out with Lemon Tart and white, I used my yellow Baker's Twine to crisscross the top.

I went with pink colors for a girly card, and decided to leave the inside blank, thinking this could be used for more than just a baby card.  I topped a couple of the stars with some rhinestones to add a little sparkle (wish they didn't look black...rrr)  This was fun!

Off to work now... :)

MIM Baby Garland

Well, I needed to make a baby card, and decided to try my hand at making garland.  Ashley had super instructions, but I feel like I failed in this first attempt, as my little tags already had hole in them!  oops!  I still like the way it turned out, for my first attempt at making garland on a project.  I also used my heart border die with felt - a first for me!  I like the texture it gives on my baby card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sunflowers!

I got a chance to play with my new Sunflower set from PTI this afternoon!  I find watercoloring or using copics to color very relaxing, and it was just that kind of  day...!

This was colored with copics, and I placed it on some Summer Sunrise Bitty Dot papers.  I added a second layer cut with an edgers die in Spring Moss.  The sentiment was stamped on a banner die with a sentiment from Blooming Button Bits.  Thanks for stopping by, hope you've had a relaxing weekend too!

MIM Fabric and Die Cuts

I finally had a little time this morning to do some stamping.  I made this for this week's Make it Monday, using fabric with die cuts.  I don't know about you, but I have a TON of fabric, left over from my quilting days!   I really had my choice on what to use, without going to the store!  However, I don't have any spray glue, so I improvised with some iron on interfacing, which gave it the stability to be cut well.

I used my new Picnic Plaid impression plate.  I love it!  It has been on my wish list for a long time, and finally kept it in the cart this month.  The die cuts I used were Simple Circles, and Beautiful Blooms 1.  Thanks for looking!

PTI August Blog Hop!

It's the day where we all share our PTI creations, based on these super photos...

So full of Fall textures!  I decided I was going to make a birthday card for my son, using fabrics (MIM territory too!) that I used when I made him a quilt when he graduated from high school.  He'll be turning 33, so these fabrics have been in my stash for a while...lol!

I used my new herringbone background stamp on just half of the card.  I chose three different fabrics, but I have to tell you, I had over 20 masculine fabrics on his quilt, in navy, kraft and dark green prints.  I wish I had a picture of it to show you, but I can tell you it has been well loved. :)

The "happy" was cut from Pretty Peonies, and the Birthday was selectively inked from Think Big Favorites.  I used two of the Bloom die cuts, and the leaf was cut with TANL, using the same fabric as the happy die.  The card base and ink are a really old SU color called Forest Foliage, that matched the fabric perfectly!  The button is kraft, and it's sewed on with some twine.  Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy all of the hop!

Vera Inspired

So ever since the pretty pattern from Vera Bradley called "Lime's Up" came out, I have wanted to put together a card.  I pinned it, and finally used it to inspire this really fast and easy card:

The card base is Hawaiian Shores, and the ribbon is New Leaf.  I've also used Smokey Shadow, Lemon Tart and Harvest Gold inks.  The little dots and accents where just added with a black fine tip pen.  Not as pretty as the real thing, but fun!

August SFYTT

So, I have had a really busy week!  I was moved to the main branch of the bank I work for, and I love it!  It is much busier, which is wonderful, but I'm pretty whipped at night.  Seriously cuts into my stampy time!  I was able to get my August Sketch for you to Try finished, over a couple of here and there additions.  LOL, it may have been the longest I've ever taken to make a card.  But I love the finished card...

I used some Verve stamps (this month's sponsor!) from Blue Skies.  It fit nicely into the Classy Label die that was stamped with Spring Moss.  The card base and papers are from Papertrey Ink in Winter Wisteria, some Bitty Dot, and the green is from Lily Bee.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Stitching Time!

Okay, so now I know why I don't do counted cross stitch anymore!  Heather challenged us to do a little stitching on our stamped images this week, and I soon realized that my eyes aren't what they used to be. :)  Of course, she made it easier with the great instructions where we used a paper piercer to create the holes first.  I wanted to use my Quilter's Sampler set for this fun technique.

Here is a closer look at the stitching...

I first stamped the blocks, and then colored them with copics.  It was easy to add the stitched border, and then I added the buttons for the finishing touch.  The card base and buttons are Winter Wisteria.

Addison's Birthday

Both my granddaughters celebrate their birthdays in August (29 & 30!)  I wanted to do interactive cards this year for them.  So this will go to Addison, who is turning 7.

I had a hard time taking a picture, cause that balloon wants to slide to the bottom quickly!  The tops of the balloons are paper pieced with some co ordinating scraps.  I had fun making this one, and I think it'll be a good one for her.  Thanks for looking!

Stamped and Watercolored

For this card, I did a little stamping and watercoloring.  A great way to add a little dimension to your flowers.

After the flowers and leaves were stamped, I went back with my paint brush and ink (stamped onto the CD case!) and added some depth.  It really blends nicely, like copic markers, but not the expense.  The flowers were stamped in Lemon Tart, and then highlighted with an apricot color.  The leaves were stamped in Spring Moss, and then highlighted with Spring Moss.  It was easy too.

Hope you're having a great Sunday!

More flowers for MIM!

I have another card for Make it Monday.  For this one, I stamped several flowers, and after the watercoloring was dry, I added stickles to the centers and they look so pretty.  For the layout, I used a half & half die cut from Little Bitty Dots in Spring Moss.  The card base is Summer Sunrise.  I finished it off with a single button and bakers twine.

Have a great weekend!

Make it Monday Watercoloring!

Well I was thrilled when I saw this weeks MIM.  Watercoloring is one of my favorite things to do.  In fact, I had just purchased Friends 'til the End, thinking it would be a great one for watercoloring and copics.  I used to use the lid of SU inks, so seeing Dawn tap that color onto the CD case was great for me. :-)

I added a textured layer of Terracotta Tile on this, but left off the buttons and bows.  Sometimes it's nice to have a flat card for mailing.  Thanks for looking!

Brooklyn's Birthday

My sweet little granddaughter is turning three. I found this fun paper at Archivers last weekend to use. She will love the sparkly green polka dots. The inside uses the Movers & Shakers poppers die with butterflies. I think she'll have fun with that!

I used the Tin Types impression plate for the band of Raspberry Fizz, and then highlighted it with a white pen.  It's on a Hibiscus Burst card base.  Thanks for stopping by!

8-6-12 Mojo Monday!

I had some time this morning to post my card for Mojo Monday.  This was a hard sketch!!  Pulling out some new Kaisercraft papers, this is what I ended up with.

I love all the aqua, green and teal colors together. Thanks for taking a peek!

Rosie in Blue & Yellow

Just had to pull out Rosie Posie again!  This time, I wanted to use the big stem and daisy stamp, and play with the fun hexagon border.  I chose Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain and Harvest gold for my color scheme.

I backed the stamped image panel with my new Blueberry Sky paper. (♥)  The center is a clear yellow button I had in my stash, and the sentiment is from Botanical Silhouettes.  Have a great week everyone.  :-)

MIM Sympathy Card

Today I'm sharing one more Make it Monday card.  I sat down to do a Sympathy card, and the bleach was still on my table, so...  I had to freshen the bleach a little, and then I stamped Watercolor Trio branches with the bleach.  Then I used markers to stamp the stems and flowers.  The card was embossed with Tin Types, and then I cut the top half with an edger die.  I used a bit of Autumn Rose ribbon, and my Fillable Frames #10 was popped up with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from a Just Rite set.

I think the bleached parts really make the branches stand out.  It was fun to use some of my new products from Stamp-a-Faire.

On a personal note - yesterday I took a day trip to Indiana to meet up with some of my kids and grandkids.  They were school shopping, as they start back up on August 15th!  Addison will be in 1st grade, and Aidan will start kindergarten.  It was so fun to see them (how do you like those missing teeth??)  This picture just made me smile all over!

Hope you've had a great weekend too!  Happy Stamping.....

MIM thanks so much

I made a second card last night, using my Sending You stamps.  I tried to make this on Raspberry Fizz, but it wouldn't bleach out!  Anyone else have that experience??  Anyway, I used Autumn Rose instead.  It's on a Sweet Blush card base that I embossed with Tin Types (a new purchase from the forum!), and the darker stamped ink is a retired color from SU called Purely Pomegranate.  I also used some Versamark and a few rhinestones.  The smallest flower is from Botanical Silhouettes.

I finished it off with some bitty dot ribbon, and a Tiny Tag stamped in Sweet Blush and Autumn Rose.  Hope you like it and thanks for taking a peek.

Have an awesome weekend!

MIM Turns Yellow!

Hey there!  I decided to use my Sending You set for this weeks Make it Monday.  And I loved this first card, as my blooms turned yellow with the bleach. :-)  This just made me smile.  I then used some dark brown ink to make my centers and leaves.

I used some Fresh Snow ink to randomly stamp the circles to fill in.  Then I used the edger die on the bottom. I stamped the fresh snow ink on the dark brown die, and then embossed the sentiment so it popped a little more.  It's all on an Cream card, topped with a button and bow.

Fun technique!

My first Rosie Posie card!

I just received my Rosie Posie set and had to ink it up. :-). I'd been holding off making my step-daughter's birthday card so I could use it. I love this set! You know how you'll have a set on your Wish List and it keeps getting left out of your cart? Well I finally took the plunge and bought it on SAF day. Here is Heather's card! Hope she likes it!

I used some copic markers to do some shading.  The sentiment is from Beautiful Butterflies. (I love the font in that set!)  The largest flower is up on pop dots (got that from Dawn's SAF First Aid posting) and the edges of the paper were distressed and inked with Tye Dye distress ink.  Thanks for looking!!
