Camouflaging Diecuts

For this week's Make it Monday, I decided to pull out my favorite Butterfly die.  I used Sweet Blush, Lavender Moon and Plum Pudding to create my background.  Then I took my Background Basic Polka Dots and stamped the whole background with Sweet Blush.

I cut the top layer with the cutout butterfly, and used the solid one for my bottom layers.  The sentiment is from Fancy That, and I finished the card with small pink sequins.

Tab Closure Tri-fold card

Took a little break from Christmas cards today, to make a Thank you card using this week's Make it Monday.  I pulled out Frilly Flowers for my card...

I partially cut the largest die and then stamped my first layer in harvest gold. You can't see, but the two longest petals are tucked into slits in the card base. Then I layered the next two flowers and added in some leaves made with Aqua Mist.  My patterned paper is Lavender Moon and it's on the inside as well.

Thanks for looking!

Make it Monday Glittered Frames

Today I took a break from my own Christmas cards, to do a Make it Monday one.  I don't know about you, but it seems I haven't had time to just play with my stamps and paper!  So using Dawn's video, and some jewel tone inspiration, I made this one...

I used White Shimmer and Brushed Gold cardstock, and my frame uses some soft purple glitter on a Royal Velvet base.  It just shines in real life!  I used some Spring Moss ink on the leaves and for the center of the poinsettia. The final touch is a dot of gold beads.  The sentiment is from Rustic Wreath and is embossed with white EP.

Thanks for looking! Hope your Christmas preparations are going well......

Novermber 2014 PTI Blog Hop!

This month's theme is SNOW!  Growing up in Michigan, I saw lots of it!  I still remember waiting to hear if we got enough over night to have school Lexington, they just think it's coming and school is off.

I took my inspiration from the black and white photos, and tried to keep my card monochromatic, using textures and embossing instead.

Couldn't resist a pop of soft color for the spray of greenery.  It really picked up th pink tones of the mica flakes.

Enjoy all the hop today.  You can find the rest here,

Life is a Journey

I know I haven't posted for a while, I've been busy with Christmas cards, and a new business I started selling Touchstone Crystal jewelry (a division of Swarovski). Today I took a little break, and made my card for this week's blog hop and this one, for a co-worker whose last day is Wednesday.

I fell in love with this pretty arch of flowers, and it was fun making my first card with this Phrase Play die.  I used my Ombré Builders set for the panel underneath, using all green inks.

I'll be back on Tuesday for the Hop!
Have a great week!

Ombre from Pinterest

A while back, I snagged this super photo from Nichole's Pinterest board, just to make an ombré background!

Is it not awesome?  My first try was a little dark and I didn't like the rust in the space I had, so I flipped it over and voilà, came out like this...

I used some really old brads to mimic the buttons. It was great getting more info from Laura on how to do this!  Can't wait to try it again!

Make it Monday for Thanksgiving

I thought quite a bit before I made this card!  I wanted to do a Thanksgiviving card for my MIL, and thought the Ginkgo leaves would work well.

I stamped the leaves with Versamark ink, and stamped the berries right onto the tag.  The background was made with Ombré Builders with Terracotta Tile, Canyon Clay, and Harvest Gold.  The bow is a scrap of off while silk I had leftover from another project.

Today a went to a friends house and made the globes for Christmas presents!  I'm also going to help her make them with with thirteen 9-year old Girl Scouts in a few weeks.....!

Have a great week!

Birdies Singing!

Hi there!  After a week off to visit my family in Michigan, I was able to get back to my craft room this weekend.  I played along with two challenges, Make it Monday and Color Throwdown.

I used my new Songbirds set, that hadn't seen ink yet.  So cute!!   And the colors for this week's challenge were fall like, but still so cheery!

Thanks for stopping by on this chilly fall day!

So after looking at this for a while, I did a little tweaking.. I added another black branch for balance, and filled the lower birds flower with a white Posie and pearl.  I like it better now!

Stained Glass

I had a few minutes to finish up my card for MIM tonight, before we head to Michigan to visit my family tomorrow. I certainly thought of the beautiful stained glass windows of Notre Dame, as I created my window from Mendhi Medallion.

I remember the wonderful jewel tones of glass, depicting different things from the Bible.  The richness of so much color, could never be duplicated, but I sure tried.

Thanks for a great technique Betsy!

Double Dipping

I have another Make it Monday card to share.
This is my first Christmas card for 2014!

I did a double embossing using an embossing powder called Stardust, and then I did another step of embossing with gold.  The dies are from the Christmas Poinsettia set, and the flower and leaves were cut from a Kasiercraft print pack.  I added a limitless circle layer cut from Simply Chartruese to the back of the sentiment, and tied it up like a package with some gold cord.  It was all put on a piece of Soft Stone print.

It's super pretty in real life!

Thanks for stopping by!

Golden Leaves Bookmark

I was so excited to make a bookmark using Danielle's Make it Monday challenge!  This will be the perfect addition to my Mother-in-Law's birthday greeting next month!!  She is an avid reader, and always has a book from their library going.  I'm sure it's why she is still an active, soon to be 91 year old.  I love her to pieces, and I think she'll like this shiny bookmark!

I don't have the card made yet, as I'm getting the Birthday Classics November stamps tonight for it.  I plan to sew a pocket sleeve on my card to tuck this into. This was really fun!

Thanks for looking!

Inspired Tick Tock

I made this for today's Featured Stamper on SCS, Angie.  Here is the card I cased...  I really liked how the clock was put on book print, and wanted to do that.  I also stamped extra birds on the red print for interest.

A little stamping on the envie is the finishing touch.

Thanks for coming by!

October Color Play

I had fun coloring this afternoon... :-). The new Fancy That stamp set is perfect for doing just that! I used this month's color play, Kraft, New Leaf, Ocean Tides and Pure Poppy.  What a pretty combination.

It's always good to have pretty note cards to send.  I think this fits the bill.

Happy Sunday, and have a great week!

Fall and Masculine

I have many, many Fall birthdays to create for, and most of them are for guys!  So when I saw Atumn Adornments, I knew it would be helpful in my arsenal!

Using this weeks MIM, I created this for one of my twin brother in laws.  Love this sentiment from Book Club!  Perfect for my age family and friends...haha!

The background is the Woodgrain impression plate. Love it with the fall leaves!

Thanks for looking!  Happy Saturday!

A pillow for your head

I have to say, I think this tag die took on the look of a pillow for this cozy get well card..,

This was mailed to a customer of ours that had ankle surgery and will be down for a good six weeks!  It's a little dark in the picture, but I used Spring Rain card stock and stamped the Autumn Pattern Pieces with Enchanted Evening ink for my background. The "pillow" sentiment was embossed in white on Chartreuse.

Thanks for looking!

Today I'm trying my hand at this week's Make it Monday.  I used the SAF set called Filled With Joy.

The cardstock is Lemon Tart and Tropical Teal, and the Aida Impression Plate.  Makes it look like needlepoint!

Thanks for looking!

A few to share..

I was busy making lots of cards this weekend, so I have a few to share today.

This was for the Featured Stamper on SCS, Jackie. She uses lots of PTI products, so I had lots of beautiful cards to choose from!

Next up is a quick card I made for a coworkers Mom. She wanted purple and orange with a butterfly.  I think this fit the bill...

Love this butterfly!

Paper Casting Challenge

Okay. This was a "challenge" for me!  I had never seen this technique, but Dannielle's projects were so pretty!  This was my third attempt, and it made it onto a card!

I used Mendhi Medallion and added some sparkle around the edges. I wanted to use my Tremendous Tags, but couldn't find them!  Haha, good thing I had my Tiny Tags to use!

Have a great week!

PTI September Blog Hop

This month we were inspired by this amazing autumn photo...

I couldn't resist making two different style cards.  This first one was inspired by the gorgeous sweater.

And this one by the silver pot and harvest berries.

The second one may just be my favorite. Enjoy the rest of the hop today! Hope you are as inspired as I was!

Fall Scraps

I made this, for this week's Make it Monday.  I used strips of First Fruits paper, and some new fun things that came in the mail this week!  How lovely is the new Bookmark #3 die?  I teamed it up with the scrappy back round and some flowers from Mums the Word.  Love this new serif sentiments too.

Thanks for looking!

Tea X Three

I just received some new Verve goodies, and had a chance to play with them today. I have Coffee sets, but no Tea stamps, so One Cup was a great set to add to my collection!

The sweet little cups were die cut and colored with Copics. The papers are a fun collection from Farmhouse that I picked up from Hobby Lobby.

I even stamped the trio of cups on the inside and envelope.   Just a fun little friendship card.

Fall is here!

Today we are having our first real taste of Fall!  I slept later under cosy covers, and I'm still in my pj's, crafting away...(note to self.. Do not heat emboss on your lap...You will melt your winter acrylic robe...LOL). I've got two cards today, one with an Autumn feel, and another for MIM Halloween.

I just got the dies for this cute little bouquet of leaves.  I'll have lots of fun with this set now!

And I gave this week's Make it Monday a go...

I left some of the Hexigon cuts in place to make my little monster.  The Smokey Shadow and Black inks left it a little more smudged, but I like that it gives it a grungy feel.  The sentiment is from Polka Dot Parade #7 and it's on a diecut from Bubble Talk.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy this day, whatever your weather is like!

Crazy for Cuckoo!

After tidying up my stamping area today, I had to stamp a while and mess it up again...!  I pulled out Tick Tock to play with again.  I'm just loving all the little details in this fun set!

I wanted to make it in colors that could be for a guy too, so Kraft and Enchanted Evening were my choices.  The shutters and clock face are stamped in Encore Gold.

Thanks for taking a look!

Make it Monday Challenge!

Even though I don't have kids with teachers anymore, I wanted to give this week's MIM challenge a try.  I haven't had much success with the chalkboard technique, and Erin made it look so simple!  I used my Fabulous Frames dies to create the bottom, using two dies with two passes.

I used BB Woodgrain on Kraft for the easel, and on Vintage Cream for the ledge.   Thanks for looking, and thanks for a fun challenge this week!

Three New Ones

I did a little stamping on Monday, and wanted to share them today.  All cards used the same set of fun Fall looking papers.

Love this new die from Papertrey Ink!  Easy to mix and match and fun to put together!

August PTI Blog Hop

After being so busy with SAF over the weekend, I almost forgot about the blog hop today!  I'm glad that Nichole chose the clean and simple look to do, as I put this together this morning before work!

I used Maile's technique from last Friday and I loved it!  I  embossed the splat smile, and then I backed my cut out with Tropical Teal bitty dot paper. I used the larger dot paper for my envelope. I topped off the card with a couple of gold sequins, and I was done.  Less then 15 minutes to make!

Hope you all enjoy the hop today!  I can't wait to see what every has done...

SAF 2014 Time after Time

Well...I went back to some of my earliest posts on SCS to find this winner..

Don't you love the brown carpet?  It was tricky for me figuring out how to put a card into a gallery in 2008.  So here's the shameful truth...I still have some of that paper.  Can we say I'm a saver instead of a hoarder?  So I used some it for my redo, updated version!

What I love most about my card is all the wonderful die cuts that are available to us now!  I rarely use a punch anymore.  I have also found a love of buttons on my cards.  I chose to use a real one instead of the button dies with a little piece of cream cotton cording.

Wow, what a difference a few years can make!  Thank you for this awesome challenge, a great way to end our journey through time!

SAF 2014 The 80s with Lexi Daly

Boy I remember Trapper Keepers!  Got lots of them for my kids.  How cute to figure out making one into a card!  I was going along fine, until I messed up the embossing. No more larger cardstock for a do over, so I'll have to try this again later.  I know my kids would love a card styled like this.

My cardstock was from coordinations, I think that's why the EP grabbed it so much.  Oh well...I will try again!

SAF 2014 the 1960's with Erin Lincoln

Yes, I grew up in the 60s and early 70s. I remember red carpet in my parents home, and who can forget colored appliances of Gold, Avocado, and Bronze.  Truly a fun era for me to revisit!  Did anyone else keep thinking of the Jetson's while they were making Erin's cards?  Love, Love, love it!

I used Limeaide Ice for the insert, and flipped my card sideways.  It was fun figuring out where to place the inlay pieces, and putting on a little bling.  This may go to my little brother for his birthday this year.  Nifty technique!

SAF 2014 the 1940's with Betsy Veldmen

How cool are the patterns that Betsy created for us!  And the little flowers reminded me of the paper flowers my grandmother taught me how to make, way back when!  I made them, but haven't put them to use yet.  Maybe a pin, or on another card...

I chose to make my background just like Betsy's. I loved her colors!  I can't wait to play around a little more with these cool stamps!

I added a flower and leaves that we're die cut my card.  Plus, they covered up a Pure Poppy finger smudge...!

SAF 2014 The 1920's with Heather Nichols

Love the bling and glitter of the era, and Heather's stamps and dies made it easy to create!

I used a little strip of ribbon for the first technique, and put my card on Fine Linen.  I ran out of rhinestones, but I still think it looked okay.  I love the fun spray stamp the is above the bling!

I had some dark gray pearls for this second one that was covered in glitter too.  Love the paper with these fans!  I used the little fan stamp on the sentiment too.

SAF 2014 the Regency Era with Melissa Phillips

I loved trying out the antique embossed frame that Melissa taught!  So elegant and just perfect for Mellisa's style!

Again I used some of the pretty papers from the collection, and added a little scalloped edge down the side.  The pink blush seam binding worked well and didn't distract from my frame.

SAF 2014 Explore the Renaissance with Nicole Heady

We had fun playing with Velvet and Wax in this era!  I stared out simple, making my Thank you card like Nicole's.  So easy with the preprinted paper!  It was fun to make that wax imprint, a little scary using my acrylic stamps!  It was the same with the Verlvet and iron, but I was pretty careful not to melt them...

I chose Kraft and Smokey Shadow to go with the Burgandy Velvet.  And just using clear embossing for the sentiment gave it another elegant touch.

Really cool stuff!

SAF 2014 Ancient Rome with Lizzie Jones

Our second challenge brought a new to me, use of embossing paste.  I had messy fun with this one, and made two cards.  I think I like the second one best, but they were both fun!

I ended up trimming the flower out, because I wanted to show more if the pretty red and aqua paper!

I used Round Repeats on Fine Linen paper with Ocean Tides ink.  Then, after embossing, used Chai Tea Dye ink over the panel.  The Mat Stack 1, is also stamped with Modern Wood Mats.
