Make it Monday Watercolored Backgrounds

Had a little fun playing with watercoloring today, after watching this week's Make it Monday. I used a reinker to paint, since I don't own a simple paintbox anymore!  It worked well, and here are the results.

I had a scrap of watercolor paper and used it here.  My sentiment is embossed with Chestnut Zing embossing powder.  I embossed the mums with Blush embossing powder, and then used more ink to bring out the details.  The background is Spring Moss, and I used Versamark for the ferns and Spring Moss ink for the leaves.  Fun technique!

Have a great day!

PTI February Blog Hop

Think Spring.  Even though they are predicting more snow tonight!  Unusual for Lexington this time of year, but hopefully it won't stick around!

I chose to work with the new Anniversary set, Bold Blooms, and used the photo in the upper left hand corner as my inspiration.

After creating the background, I added a layer of vellum to soften the look.  I stitched it in place and trimmed with some fancy scissors. (remember those?). Then I used the sentiment from Natural Beauties, and added some of the die cut flowers and leaves.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Rosie Birthday

After a fun weekend in Indy, visiting family and friends, I took a little time to whip up some cards for Make it Monday.  I thought I'd make just one, but once I got going, there were two. :)

The first one, I chose Fancy Flourishes and Flower Fusion #11.  We are planning a trip to Holland for our 15th wedding anniversary, and so I have tulips on the brain!  We are going to Keukenhof Gardens while there, amidst thousands of my favorite blooms!

Once I had this done, I remembered I wanted to use Mendhi Medallion with this technique, so I pulled it out and used Rosie Posie, making a full background, using Berry Sorbet and Spring Moss.  I finished with Boutique Borders Happy Birthday, a button, twine and one of my new button stacks!

Have a great week all....!

A few cards to share...

Busy week here, how about you?  I have a few cards to share today.  I spent more time at the craft table, and less time for blogging!  I was excited to receive my new PTI products last night, and made a quick card with one of their new awesome dies...

I also played with my Doodlie Do set.  I love that I can sit down color and make the flowers, and add them to a card later.

And one more that I started a few weeks ago with PJ's feather set and finally completed the card.  Love, love, love the versatility of these gorgeous feathers!

Now I'm off to watch the Ladies Figure Skating Olympic competition...!

Nine Ingredients, One card!

For today's Anniversary Challenge, we rolled the dice for nine different ingredients to make one card.  My recipe was: Simply Chartreuse, Sweet Blush, Spring Moss, Black, Sketch #5, a Thank you card, Rock & Roll technique, adhesive pearls and thread!  And here is what I made...

There isn't a lot of Rocking and Rolling going on, but I did use it for the leaves with Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks.  It was fun to figure this one out!

Thanks for looking!

Washi Makes Great Stripes!

Celebrating Papertrey tonight, with two cards for today's challenge - to use Stripes!  I decided to play with some much neglected Washi Tape (aka - never used)!  For my first card, I used this really cool music note and script tapes that coordinate.

I play around, using a scrap of Rustic Cream laid out on my table, and alternating the stripes about 1/4" apart.  Then I placed them on some Scarlet Jewel card stock.  I made the bloom from Lovely Layers using Rustic Cream and Lace in one pass.  It made great texture on the card stock!  The tag is from the Tag Die collection.

For my second card, I used the great sketch given at the beginning of the celebrations, with a gorgeous color combination given as well...

Here I've used the outside cuts from those swirly dies, with three different, funky tapes.  I even used the tape to put the label down instead of ribbon.  Very different for me, but it was fun!  Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds in this fun-filled week!  Thanks for taking a peek!

Happy Valentines Day for my Hubby

When I saw this Bible verse, I knew I had to have this stamp to make my husband's Valentine this year!  So perfect for the wonderful man I married almost 15 years ago.  I am blessed.  The sentiment and hearts are from Verve Stamps.  All the rest is from Papertrey Ink, and I've used a sketch and color combination from their Anniversary celebrations.

Hope he likes it!

My Birthday Wish to PTI

Today we were challenged to make a birthday card for PTI.  I decided to use the very first set I purchased, Enjoy the Ride!  It still is so cute, perfect for so many occasions and great masculine cards too.  I used a sketch and color inspiration for my card too, so I could add it to that gallery too...

I used some green embossing powder for the car, and cut out the window with an knife and replaced it with a little acetate.  I also used some dew drops for the headlights, they're the perfect size.  (I thought of Dawn when I put New Leaf and Aqua Mist together!).

And my hubby took this snapshot of me holding my creation...

You can see my little CD shelf in the back, it holds all my PTI sets.  Look at those, not the messy craft table!!

Happy Birthday Papertrey Ink!!

Joe's Birthday

We celebrated with our friends, Joe and Shirley last night, by going to dinner after church.  We had a wonderful time!  The food was great, and the fellowship even better!  I had to show him how to use the zipper on the front though, I wonder if other people miss pulling that tab?

He like the card though, and we laughed about not reading the directions when you get older...! :-)

Off to make my hubby's valentine and play some more challenges from PTI's Anniversary celebrations.

Have a blessed day!

Trading Card Trio

I've recently been able to sell my cards in a little coffee shop by my work place.  Let me tell you, they sell fast!  Especially the coffee ones. :-). So I've made three trading cards today, that I will probably make into cards for the shop.  I've used three different techniques for them as well.

The first one I made, used Paper Piecing from some of my favorite papers.mI can't bear to through these scraps away, cause they're so pretty!  (so there IS a reason for keeping all those little pieces...!!)

Then I pulled out inks to Watercolor.  I need to do this a little more often, I felt out of practice!

Lastly, was fun with my Copics.  So fast and my favorite technique.

Thanks for looking!  I may have to makes these more often to have on hand for a quick card to go....!

One more for today's Anniversary Downloaded Images

I couldn't resist making another card with today's images, this one from Dawn McVey!  I used Fancy Flourishes to emboss white onto Soft Stone card stock.  I framed the image with some Raspberry Fizz, and added a strip of Royal Velvet and a die cut of Soft Stone.  Some Marshmallow sequins were my finishing touch.  Love this image Dawn, hope there are more!

Day 2 of PTI Celebrations-free downloads!

I choose Lizzie Jones' sweet circle image for my card today.  I love the little swirls and Hawaiian Shores/Melon Berry colors!

A few die cuts, a doily, and some patterned paper and it was done.  Hope we see more of this sweet image in the future......!

Thanks for a great image to create with Lizzie!!

WPlus9 Monday Mood Board

This inspiration photo this week just spoke to me!  I had to duplicate those pretty little flowers and make a background paper.  I stamped them on a Soft Stone striped paper, using Sweet Blush and Spring Moss.  The sentiment is embossed in gold to reflect the "hello" in the inspiration piece.

Thanks for looking!

It's PTI Anniversary Time!

I just love this time of celebration where there are tons of challenges and excitement for Papertrey Ink's Anniversary!  I was able to make my first card this afternoon, as I was home with my husband, who had a little surgery this morning. (he's okay!). I choose the following colors and sketch...

I loved using this color scheme, one I would never thought to use, and it was perfect for my stash of Valentines.

I've also used the shadowed die cut technique for this weeks Make it Monday.  Simple to do, but it really helped make my heart sentiment pop!

Have a great day!

Valentines and More Make it Monday!

Today I've been busy making my grandchildren's Valentines.  I purchased some Doodlebug papers from my LSS, and had fun using them in different combinations for the kiddos.  I didn't plan I using this week 's Make it Monday Technique, but once I started I couldn't stop!  It really added a lot of interest to the Tremendous Treats Valentine images I used.

For the girls, I chose the cute bunnies and lots of pink!

I think this one will be for Brooklyn, and the next one for Addison...

I loved adding the glitter to the frame portion, and how Melissa tied her twine!  I used some Tiny Tags to finish them both.  Next up, the grandsons...

Gabe will be getting the Doggie with the speech bubble sentiment....

I thought the Kraft papers were more boyish looking.  And Aidan will get the little airplane...

I used the Double Ended Banner die, which looks crooked the the photo, but isn't really!

These where so fun to make, I hope the kids enjoy their Valentines this year.  Thanks for stopping by!

Make it Monday Window

Who hasn't had a moment where their sweet faithful furry friend peeked out the window to see where you were going, ask why you aren't taking him, and wonder when you're coming back???  That was my best doggie ever, and I thought of her as I made this card this morning!  I used this week's Make it Monday window card tutorial to inspire this card.  You can't tell, but I even added a layer from a clear acrylic sheet for my window pane.  The "siding" of the house was made using Soft Stone card stock and ink, and the Background Basics Woodgrain stamp.  Pretty happy with the finished product (the idea came to me at 4:00.this morning....!)
