Shabby Chic or Hot Mess?

So today I gave Melissa's Make it Monday a try.  Can I just say, she is the queen of shabby chic!  I, however, am not the best at this...  I think it looks like a hot mess!

I used my Frilly Flower dies, with some Kaisercraft papers.  The the Royal Velvet border is from the Basic Borders die and the bow is from Tinsel And Tags.  I used some Soft Stone with BB Postmarks around the edges too.

Definately need to try this again!

Update....  I kept looking at this and realized the Royal Velvet just weighted this card down.  I made the decision to take it off.  I carefully lifted the layers, and added another small circle border crosswise.  I also lost the Purple button, and used a vellum one with a real Aqua Mist one.  Personally, I like it better.

Even though I lost that purple element, I think it's much softer looking.  Hope you like the changes too!

Papertrey Ink February Blog Hop

This lovely photos was our inspiration for this month's blog hop...

Isn't it scrumptious?  Well, my first attempt was an epic fail.  Let's just say, that I'll need to try the smooshing technique at another time..... So, I decided to go clean and simple, using my Watercolor Wonder stamps. (Anyone else pull this great set out again after seeing the new papers by Maile?)

Once I followed the pretty colors from the bottom up, I liked the simple sentiment better when it was placed horizontally on the stripes.  I tucked in a scribble circle diecut made with white shimmer cardstock.  Love the new Keep it Simple Frames. They haven't left my desk!

Happy Hopping All!

Patterned Vellum!

I could hardly wait to get this new scrumptious vellum from Papertrey Ink!  Now that I have it, I think I'll have trouble not putting on cards!  It is so awesome, and the perfect touch!

I had this sweet little "Boo-boo Bear" (from Whippersnapper) colored and waiting for a home for a while.  After cutting a nd layering, the largest Polkadot vellum just made it complete!  The sentiment was heat embossed with black EP.

Thanks for looking!

Make It Monday #201: Cover Plate Stencils and Embossing Paste

Loved trying out Laurie's Make it Monday this afternoon.  I need to get some of the clear paste though, as this turned out a little splashier than I thought it would!

I do love the sentiment with this.  The dark background looks like a night sky!

Thanks for looking!  Is it frigid cold in your neck of the woods?  Record lows here tonight!

Papertrey Ink Anniversary- Ombré Blues!

I'm singing the blues, as this is the last of the challenges for me.  I've had so much fun, pulling out different sets to play with over these last 10 days.  It's given me a whole new love for PTI and their fabulous designers.

I've used the great Ombre Builders set. It was easy and so pretty, I hated to cover too much up!  I finally settled on the Phase Play Happy die, with a sentiment from 2012 Birthday Tags. I sold a couple of masculine birthdays cards this week, so this will be good to have in my stash.

Thanks for stopping by! I can't wait for tomorrow...what's on your list?

Papertrey Ink Anniversary- Bling on the Metallics!

Yay, it's the weekend, and I had some time to catch up on The anniversary challenges for Papertrey Ink's eighth anniversary. I'm bringing (or "blinging" as the case may be) on the metallics this morning with this card!  I used Fancy That for my silver and gold embossed background.  It is so pretty in real life!

The sentiment is embossed in white on some gold shimmer cardstock, and the flower was made with the button dies in vellum.  I'm ready for a Wedding or Anniversary with this one.  Off to make one more challenge card.........

Papertrey Ink Anniversary-spring out that set that hasn't seen ink!

I am one that usually uses new sets right away. But, between Christmas, multiple January Birthdays and Valentines Day, Big Hugs was in the case and unused!  I know it's a newer release, but there it was, calling my name for this challenge!

HUGS was embossed with Aqua, and then I used Copics to color the flower. I love this sentiment, you can never have too many!  So sweet. I added some New Leaf Bitty Dot, and a little bakers twine and buttons to top it off.

Hope I can play more challenges. This one took me 5 days! ;)

Papertrey Ink Anniversary- Bags & Tags

I just love Dawn's new series for making tags!  I love to add them to my packages, just the thing to spruce up any kind of gift.  Today we were challenged to make a tag with a matching package. I have found that I can use the Front and Center die on a inexpensive bag from Michaels or the Dollar store.  Easy Peasy!

Here, I've used it with two tags and my Limitless Layer Heart dies.  The top heart was cut with Vellum (can't wait for the new patterned vellum!), and then it was embossed with white and green. I added a teal pearl in the center of the flower.

Had to take a picture on my table this time, hope you can see it alright!

Have a great week...

Papertrey Anniversary- A Bunch of Blooms!

Today, the challenge is to create a bouquet of flowers, using several different flower stamp sets.  I started by pulling out one of my all time favorites, Friendship Jar. I stamped stems and greenery from Meadow Greens.  Then I proceeded to add smaller flowers from Ruby Rose and Friendly Flowers.  I love how this all came together!  I did a little watercoloring with Aqua Mist on the jar, and when it was dry, stamped the sentiment, from A Cheerful Heart, in black.

Love that verse, and I love all these wonder stamp sets put together!  Thank you PTI!!

Thanks for looking!

Papertrey Anniversary - color and sketch challenge

Trying to get caught up with the fun PTI challenges this weekend!  The first day we were given colors and sketches to play with, and I chose these...

Here is my take....

Oh, and in my hurry, I did this and had to start over....

Oops!  No way to cover up that boo boo!  ;-)

Papertrey Anniversary: inspired by Maile!

I had so much fun looking at Maile's wonderful creations!  She has a unique style, and it was hard to choose just one!  But I went with this beautiful card using the heart cover plate die.

I used Kraft and some brushed gold, instead of white.  This will be for my husband for Valentines Day.

Love Maile's clean look! So glad to see her designing stamps again too.  Yay!!

Make it Monday - Layering Cover Plate Diecuts

Time to play today, and get caught up on all the Papertrey Ink festivities!  I'm starting off with this week's Make It Monday from Dawn, by layering up some cover plate diecuts.  I went with the Modern Cross Quilt, one of my favorites!

I've used Black and Aqua Mist for my colors, and some big polka dot patterned paper.  The card came together quickly, by a simple thank you sentiment and diecut from Everday Photo Finishers.  Thanks for stopping by.....

Burlap Valentine

As my grandsons get a little older, I'm always looking for ways to make suitable Valentines for them. I found a piece of red burlap this week, and thought it would work!

I used Kraft and some soft gold to create my banner, using Betsy's MIM technique. I like how it turned out, and not too girly, don't cha think?  Off to do one more grandson's Valentine!
