January 2016 Blog Hop Challenge

Yep, this is the picture we were to use as our inspiration this month!  It is so different and unusual, not to mention my least favorite color, orange...!  But it was a challenge I faced head on during the last few snowy days at home.

When I looked at the shape, I thought of the unique shaped dies from SAF 2014 60's era.  When I went to pull them out, I found the some of the great patterned papers were still unused! Bingo, they were kind of orangeish!

I added some embossed butterflies (made from the new Bitty Buttflies coverplate) that I edged with some clear Wink of Stella.  This is definitely not my style, but I love how it turned out!

Great challenge, and enjoy the rest of the hop!

MAKE IT MONDAY #237: MATCHBOOK VALENTINES

Happy Snow Days for me!  The bank where I work never closes, but when you get 8 or 9 inches of snow, Lexington pretty much has to shut down. Yay! Time to make cards!  I've been able to make my matchbook project, but have my Blog Hop card ready too!  I've got a few other items I've got to get done too, so I'm pretty happy to have the time off.

I made mine a little more neutral, just to give to a coworker sometime.  We don't do valentines there, but I think this will be nice to leave in their teller window.  I had to hunt for a treat, and found this leftover from Halloween!  Haha, I had to test one to make sure it wasn't stale... ;)

It was fine...!

Take care and snuggle in wherever you are!

Winter Woods Birthday

I'm loving The Winter Woods collection for a masculine birthday card! This one is on its way to our new son in law, Carlos.  Hope he likes it!

You can't see in the photo, but I added a little Wink of Stella to the branches.

Have a great weekend all,

Create Along With Us: January 2016

I love this new challenge from Papertrey Ink.  I'm glad I got to play this week.

I am really excited for the new coloring papers from Dawn, and I wanted to create something that resembled doing it in a traditional way.

With a little masking, I was able to use Vintage Linens and Delightful Dahlias to create my floral corner.  I then colored them with Copics.  Even though it was fun to do, much more work than using the papers that will be on their way soon!

Have a great day!

MAKE IT MONDAY #236: 2015 A LA CARTE

When Ashley shared this technique, I really wished I'd owned the Coverplate Waves die. This time I get to give it a try, as my kids gave it to me for Christmas! Here is the link to her tutorial...

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2015/11/make-it-monday-230-cover-plate-watercoloring.html

My daughter's Mother in Law was just diagnosed with cancer, and I wanted to send her a little note

The watercolored inks are Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Stormy Seas.  The sentiment is from Phrases & Praises, and I used one from Inside Out Well Wishes on the inside.

It was fun to take a look back at all the wonderful techniques we learned in 2015. Thank you to all the PTI staff for your awesome tutorials!

A Bunch of Thanks

I haven't posted much lately, but I have been creating!  Here are a few Christmas thank you cards I've made, and sent too!

With my new Vintage Linens (yay!)

With Faire Isle Motifs...

And with my new Doily Tag Base die!

And last, but not least, one using Graceful Greetings.

Now it's on to Birthday cards, I have two to get made soon!

Happy Stamping!

MAKE IT MONDAY #235: ADDING COLOR TO STAMPED IMAGES

Happy New Year Friends! I hope you had a blessed Christmas season with friends and family. I sure did! Now I've been producing Thank you notes for the lovely things I was given this year. (well I guess that would be last year now!)

When I first heard of OMS, (a long time ago...) I gave it a try. I never really got the hang of using those prismsma color pencils, and although I still have them, I prefer a watercolor approach.  For my take on this challenge, I have two similar cards, one without the added color, and the other with.  I like them both, but you sure can tell the effect the shading adds!

Without...

And now with...

As you can see, the second pops a little more!  Maybe someday I'll invest in OMS again, because Laurie sure made it look easy!

Thanks for looking!
